An Assessment of School-Based Substance Use Prevention Needs in Vermont’s Prevention Region 1

The United Way of Northwest Vermont, Lead Prevention Organization (LPO) for Vermont Prevention Region 1, partnered with the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE) to assess school-based substance use prevention capacity, needs, and opportunities across the region’s Supervisory Unions and School Districts. The assessment was conducted in spring 2026 to inform future investments in prevention services and supports as oversight of school-based prevention funding transitions to the regional prevention model.

An Employer Guide to Substance Misuse

The Employer Guide to Substance Misuse was created in partnership with Working Bridges, a program of United Way of Northwest Vermont and Green Mountain United Way, and Prevention Works! VT. A workgroup made up of Vermont employers and community organizations focused on substance misuse prevention and recovery participated in the project. The Employer Guide to Substance Misuse is designed to help Vermont employers in promoting healthy and safe workplaces.
